Sourcing materials

Updated: Nov 3, 2020

With a lot of the creations influenced by the natural resources around us I get amongst nature to find the pieces that bring the artwork to life. Here we are on the wild west coast of New Zealand sourcing driftwood that has been washed up on shore after recent storms.

Once the stunning pieces have been picked I work with Tim Stonnell from Abrasive Waterjet to create the space for the glass to sit, wax fitting, remembering to weigh the wax!, making molds, steaming wax out, what colour glass? firing glass, clean up after firing, refit and set into the driftwood. The process is worth it.
